Doncaster Rovers have officially announced the signing of 27-year-old goalkeeper Rory Watson on a one-month contract.

Watson has been associated with the club since the pre-season, primarily in response to an injury to the regular keeper, Louis Jones.

His recent formal engagement is aimed at bolstering the goalkeeping department with experienced cover during this crucial period.

Manager Grant McCann commented on the situation, “Rory has been with us on a mutual understanding since the start of pre-season due to the unfortunate injury to Louis Jones. His role will continue until Louis recovers, which we anticipate will be in the next couple of weeks. Rory's experience will certainly be an asset to the squad during this period."

Watson, who hails from York, recently played for National League champions, Wrexham. Before his stint at Wrexham, he was a part of Scunthorpe United, amassing over 100 appearances.

Adding a touch of nostalgia to the news, Watson will be eligible to feature in the upcoming Carabao Cup match against Hull City – a club where he honed his skills as a young player, advancing through their youth system.
