LSL Senior Sunday round-up: Liffey Wanderers suffer relegation while St Francis draw with St Mochta’s

Liffey Wanderers have been relegated from the top-flight of the Leinster Senior League after falling to a 5-2 home defeat against Bluebell United.

The Ringsend club have struggled at the foot of the table all season - claiming just three wins.

And their last victory arrived in February when they defeated Bangor Celtic 3-0 at home.

But their loss to Bluebell consigned them to their fate - with Joshua Ojelabi in stunning form for the Bell.

The striker - previously on the books of St Patrick’s Athletic as a teenager - scored four times in a thumping win for the Capco Park side.

Josh Doyle was also on target, with Caleb Gyasi and Jackson Ryan scoring mere consolations for Liffeys.

Meanwhile, St Mochta’s were held to a 1-1 draw with St Francis.

Ciaran Grogan was on target for Brian McCarthy’s side but they were thwarted by Jack O’Connor’s strike for St Francis.

And Mochta’s draw now means that Lucan United need only four points from their remaining four games to win the title.

Elsewhere, Bangor Celtic claimed the bragging rights in the Dublin 12 derby with a 1-0 win over Crumlin United.

John Scott’s side have impressed in recent weeks and their latest win has seen them hold their seventh-placed position in the table. Alex O’Callaghan found the net for Bangor.

Crumlin, however, are just two points above the drop with three games left to play.

Meanwhile, Wayside Celtic claimed a point in their fight for survival against Tolka Rovers.

Glen McAuley opened the scoring for Tolka but an own-goal levelled matters for Wayside at their Jackson Park home.

Malahide United also pushed Home Farm closer to the drop with a 2-1 win over the Whitehall side at Gannon Park.

Michael Keyes scored for the Farm but goals from Dylan Cashin and Alan O’Sullivan gave Malahide all three points.

Maynooth University Town ran out 3-0 victors over Kilbarrack United at Greendale Park to push themselves clear of relegation trouble.

Former Norwich City youth Josh Giurgi scored a brace for the Co Kildare side, with Evan Murphy also scoring.
