Shamrock Rovers take on Ferencvaros in the second leg of their second qualifying round of the Europa Conference League in Tallaght on Thursday.

The Hoops trail 4-0 after the first leg against the five-in-a-row Hungarian champions after last week’s first leg in Budapest.

You can watch the game worldwide on LOITV (bar Hungary, Israel, Slovakia and Romania). The game kicks off at 8pm Irish time.

Who is the referee?

Tomasz Musiał will lead an all Polish set of officials. He was the referee for Rovers' 1-0 win in Iceland back in 2016 against Stjarnan.

He was is a bit of a fourth official specialist. He had that role for a number of high profile Europa Conference League matches last season including Marseille v Manchester United, Dinamo Zagreb v AC Milan, Barcelona v Inter Milan and Sheriff v Manchester United.



He was also the fourth official for Ireland’s 2-0 loss to Switzerland in October 2019.

Will the referee have access to VAR?

No.

While VAR has been expanded for this year’s UEFA Champions League to include all qualifying rounds of the competition for the very first time including Rovers game in Tallaght against Breidablik last month, it is only used in the Europa Conference League from the play-off round onwards.

The winners of the tie will face the winning team from the Dinamo Tbilisi v Hamrun Spartins tie. Those sides played in Malta last week with Hamrun winning 2-1. The second leg being played in Georgia on Thursday with a 5pm kick-off (Irish Time).

The losing team exit Europe.
