Rangers Football Club has officially announced the pre-contract signing of Dujon Sterling from Chelsea.

The 23-year-old defender is expected to officially join the club on a four-year deal on July 1, subject to international clearance.

Sterling's signing marks the second acquisition of the summer transfer window by Rangers' manager, Michael Beale, as part of the preparations for the 2023/24 season.

Sterling began his football career at Chelsea's Academy at just eight years old. He debuted for Chelsea's first team in September 2017 in an EFL cup tie against Nottingham Forest.

In addition, he has gained experience from loan spells with Coventry City, Wigan Athletic, Blackpool, and Stoke City. Sterling has represented England at levels up to under-20.

In a statement after signing for Rangers, Sterling expressed his excitement to join the club.

"I am really excited to come to such a big club...the Gaffer came in for me straight away and what he proposed to me was everything that I believe I need," he said.

Manager Michael Beale also shared his enthusiasm for Sterling's addition to the squad, stating: "I am delighted to welcome Dujon to Rangers, he is an exciting young player who, I’m sure, will be a great addition to our squad. He is a very powerful and strong defender, who has fantastic attacking qualities and I look forward to working with him at Rangers.”
