Castlebar Celtic had an impressive 7-0 win in Lifford in the WFAI Cup last week and will be looking to take that goal form into Sunday’s game against Shamrock Rovers.
Celtic boss Adrian Carberry said: “We’re have some players back from injury but Emma Mullin still out. Shauna Jackson should return to fitness. Patricia Coyle has signed from Ballina Town and Deirdre Doherty signed from Sligo IT. She’ll make a great addition.
“We were thin on the ground numbers wise in last few weeks but we’re looking stronger with competition for places. It was a great performance in the cup in Lifford last week. They had beaten Galway WFC in a pre-season friendly but I was happy with the performance. We were unfortunate against Peamount so it was a great response. We’ll go into the Rovers game with confidence.”
Rovers have had their opening day game against Peamount awarded as a 3-0 win to their opponents but manager Stephen Cregg is hopeful his side can pick up their first victory soon.
He said: “Lisa Murphy is ruled out with a kidney infection but everybody else is okay. Niamh Kenna and Julie Conlon have signed from Peamount so we’re a bit stronger. Last week was the first time we had everybody available and it means we can work on a lot more.
“It’s unbelievable the steps forward we’ve made even in the past ten days. We had 21 players at training this week so there’s competition there. Castlebar are well organised and will always give you a tough test on their pitch which is quite tight.”
