Killian Phillips joins Aberdeen on loan

The former Drogheda United midfielder joins The Dons on loan until the end of the season. 

Originally from Kilbarrack, Phillips has put pen to paper signing a loan deal with Scottish club Aberdeen from Crystal Palace

Having spent the first half of his season at Wycombe Wanderers, the versatile midfielder made 30 appearances with the EFL League One side before returning to The Eagles.

The 21-year-old first began his professional career with Drogheda United in 2021, where he spent a year in the League of Ireland before transferring overseas to join Premier League outfit Crystal Palace.

A regular in the Eagles’ Under 21 side, he made his senior debut for the Selhurst Park Club in August 2022, starting the Carabao Cup tie against Oxford United.

Phillips has represented his country underage making his debut in 2022 for the Ireland U20's and then making five more appearances for Ireland the following year for the U21's. The Dubliner scored for his country in the 2-2 draw against Italy back in November at Turners Cross.

“I’m pleased to bring Killian to the club as he’s a player we’ve admired for some time”, said manager Barry Robson speaking with Aberdeenfc.co.uk.

“He’s energetic, hardworking and his strength of character is matched by his technical ability.

“He’s proven this season already that he’s capable given the number of games he has amassed. He’s put in some big performances, including a man of the match display, scoring for Ireland U21’s against Italy.

“He’s very good in both boxes and will add a real versatility to our midfield options.

“He has the right mentality to fit into our squad and we look forward to working with him in the second half of the season.”

Phillips will hope he’ll be in the squad for the visit of Dundee to Pittodrie on Tuesday evening.
