Drogheda United have unveiled the double loan signing of Hayden Cann and Oisin Gallagher ahead of the 2024 Premier Division season.

Both players were most recently on loan at English non-league side Peterborough Sports.

But the pair will be looking to follow in the footsteps of Freddie Draper, Elicha Ahui, Sean Roughan and Sam Long at Weavers Park.

The quartet enjoyed impressive loan spells in Co Louth after joining on loan from the Imps.

Cann and Gallagher will be looking to do the same.

Cann, 20, has been with Lincoln since he was 8 and signed his first professional contract with the club in October 2020 and has made one senior appearance for the club in the EFL Trophy.

19-year-old Gallagher also joins Drogheda on loan having moved to Lincoln from Derry City in 2021.

He is also an Ireland under-19 international and made his League One debut for the Imps against Blackpool on New Year's Day.

“Oisin is someone I was aware of through Irish youth teams but became more aware of through Lincoln,” Drogheda boss Kevin Doherty said.

“He’s a strong midfielder, the type of player we’ve been keen to bring in. I’ve watched a lot of the games he’s played out on loan at Peterborough Sports and was really impressed.

“Hayden is a really dominant centre-back, who excelled in his last loan spell. He can play in a back three or as one of two really comfortably.

“I wanted to be able to have some flexibility in the way we play. We are getting two really good players and two good lads in general.

“There’s a goal threat from both of them too which is great too.

“Their attitude too, they both really wanted the move and obviously did their own homework on us, and spoke to the four lads who have been here previously.

“It keeps the relationship going with Lincoln too which has been very beneficial for us.

“I’d like to thank Jez George again for his help on the move because there were plenty of clubs looking to bring both players in.

“But Lincoln are putting their trust in us again, and while they are here, we’ll make the most of that.”
