Athlone Town have confirmed that defender Jarlath Jones has returned to the club.

The defender, 21, enjoyed a short spell at the club during the 2022 season before joining Drogheda United last term.

While at Weavers Park, the former Shelbourne and Dundalk youth made seven appearances for the Boynesiders as they comfortably stayed up in the top-flight last year.

But he has returned to Lissywoolen ahead of the 2024 campaign and is likely to join Dylan Hand in the Co Westmeath side’s defence under boss Dario Castelo.
