Scott Kirkland has extended his stay in Limerick, committing to another season with Treaty United.

Kirkland began his footballing career as a youth at Bridge United, before progressing through the Treaty United Carelon Academy, ultimately making his first team debut in June of 2022.

The 20-year-old, who has appeared in 18 competitive games for the club, offers versatility to Tommy Barrett's side as both a capable central defender and a midfielder, proving a sturdy presence at the back and a stalwart engine in central field.

Barrett told TreatyUnitedFC.com, “Scott is another good signing and, like Fionn (Doherty), having him shows the pathway that is there for our academy players."

"He played 16 times last year, which is a good return for a player of his age, and we’ll expect him to have a greater impact in the new season. He’s a player who’s flexible in his positioning and has the right attitude to progress in this league.”

Having first signed a Senior Men's contract for the side in December 2022, the Clare native played a pivotal role in his side's campaign last year, starting on six occasions including big games against eventual First Division winners Galway United and Wexford, among others.
