League Preview: Drogheda United -v- Bohemians

DROGHEDA UNITED

Drogheda United welcome Bohemians back to Weavers Park after last weekend’s FAI Cup clash (kick-off is at 7.45pm).

Bohs ran out 3-1 winners over the Drogs last weekend – and that sealed the Gypsies’ passage into the semi-finals of the competition.

But Drogheda will be keen to maintain their top-flight status when they host Bohs again.

The Drogs are sitting pretty in seventh place but know that they can be caught by Cork City and/or Sligo Rovers in the coming weeks if they lose their form.

And they will have to fight on over the next few weeks without the services of long-term absentee Dylan Grimes.

Aaron McNally misses out on tonight’s game with a knee injury while Darragh Noone is a doubt after missing the cup tie last week through illness.

BOHEMIANS

Bohemians chief Declan Devine has called on his side to be relentless in their pursuit of points between now and the end of the season.

The Gypsies are in a strong position as they chase a top-three finish this season – and they are in an FAI Cup semi-final.

But Devine reckons his side still have a few more gears to go through.

“We spoke on Saturday morning then about a refocus and their attitude, honesty and intensity all week has been outstanding.

“Every player and every member of staff knows the importance of the next game. We are at a stage of the season where every point and every three points is critical.

“We have got to go up to Drogheda again and give an even better performance than what we did last week.

“We still have a couple of gears that we can go up.

“We have to make sure now that we are relentless in our pursuit of points, wanting more and driving on between now and the end of the season.”
