League Preview: Treaty United -v- Kerry

TREATY UNITED

Treaty United host Munster rivals Kerry at the Market’s Field on Friday evening as they look to keep their play-off hopes alive (kick-off is at 7.45pm).

Tommy Barrett’s side are five points behind fifth-placed Wexford with a game in hand.

But they can ill-afford to drop many points between now and the end of the season.

However, their game in hand will be played against second-placed Waterford on Monday evening.

In their last league outing before the FAI Cup last weekend, the Shannonsiders ran out 1-0 winners away to Finn Harps.

But before that they lost three league games on the spin against Wexford, Longford Town and Galway United.

KERRY

Billy Dennehy has called on Kerry to sustain the level of performance that almost saw them dump Drogheda United out of the FAI Cup last weekend.

The Kingdom were bested by Kyle Robinson’s 10th minute goal but did rise to the challenge put before them by Kevin Doherty’s side.

And that performance was in line with their recent performances in the league.

In their last league game Kerry were edged out by Wexford 3-2 after taking a 2-0 lead against James Keddy’s side at Ferrycarrig Park.

And just before that they drew 2-2 at home to Cobh Ramblers/

But Dennehy has called on his side to sustain their levels ahead of the last few games of the season.

“When there is a big build-up to a game the mind and attitude can be a bit more focused,” he said. “When you go back to a league game that’s when good players show their levels.

“It doesn’t matter if you’re playing at Mounthawk Park in front of a full house, a carpark with your mates or at Old Trafford in front of over 60,000 people. Your mindset and attitude has to be the exact same. All the processes should stay the same.

“That’s what I will be saying to the players. If we do that we will definitely pick up more points between now and the end of the season.”
