Shamrock Rovers have announced the transfer of their Academy graduate and first-team midfielder, Justin Ferizaj, to Serie A's Frosinone Calcio on a three-year deal.

Having made a strong impression in the green and white of Rovers, Ferizaj, who started his journey with the club at the age of 14, is set to further his career in the competitive landscape of Italian football.

The creative midfielder first stepped onto the senior pitch for Shamrock Rovers in June 2022.

That match at Richmond Park, which saw him coming off the bench, marked his debut at just 17.

Looking back at his early achievements, Justin first donned the Irish jersey for the Under-15s in a memorable 3-1 victory against England in December 2019.

Notably, he played alongside some of his Rovers teammates, like Gideon Tetteh and Inter Milan's Kevin Zefi, who happens to be his cousin.

A year later, his exceptional free-kick against Iceland at Turner’s Cross clinched a crucial point for Ireland Under-17s, ensuring they topped their European qualifying group.

After making a mark in the Academy and youth circuits, Justin found himself on the senior team bench more often.

He was a part of Stephen Bradley’s starting lineups twice in the league, made three substitute appearances, and contributed during Rovers' European run.

His standout performance against Hibernians in the Champions League was key in securing his starting position in three UEFA competition games.

This season saw Ferizaj making four substitute appearances in the Premier Division and he scored a goal in a Leinster Senior Cup tie.

On the international stage, he played a role in helping Ireland Under-19s advance in the UEFA Championship Finals qualifying rounds.

Frosinone Calcio currently lie in 15th place after one game in Serie A having won promotion to the top tier last season when they topped Serie B with 80 points, seven clear of their nearest opponents.
