Bradford City AFC has announced that last season's Sky Bet League Two Golden Boot winner, Andy Cook, has agreed to a new three-year contract with the club.

Andy Cook, who topped the goalscoring charts last season with 31 goals in all competitions and provided eight assists, will stay at the University of Bradford Stadium until summer 2026. Cook initially joined the Bantams on loan in January 2021, scoring eight goals during the remainder of the 2020/21 campaign before making a permanent switch to Valley Parade in June 2021.

The prolific striker netted 12 goals in the 2021/22 season and 31 last season, averaging a goal every 121 minutes. With this, his tally for Bradford City stands at an impressive 51 goals in 115 appearances.

Cook also became only the sixth player in the club's history to score 30 or more goals in a single season and the first to finish as a division’s seasonal outright top scorer.

Speaking on his contract renewal, Cook said, “I am buzzing, over the moon to be here for another three years. I think everyone close to me knows this is where I want to be playing my football. I am delighted to have got it sorted as quickly as I have.”

Despite having options elsewhere, Cook expressed his desire to continue with Bradford City, stating, “I wanted to stay here and help propel us to where we should be. I want to finish the business we started last season, and pick up where I left off on a personal note."

Cook highlighted the significance of the fans and the team spirit in his decision to remain with the club, while also underlining his ambitions for the club’s progress, “Over the next few years, I want to be able to help us achieve that.”

Mark Hughes, Bantams boss, also shared his delight over the striker's decision to stay. He said, “We are delighted to have tied Andy down for another three years, and are looking forward to having him with us again for pre-season. His stats not only this season, but over the two and a half years he has spent at the club so far, speak for themselves. He is a very dangerous striker whose importance to our side is huge.”

Hughes further underscored the importance of securing Cook's services amid interest from several other clubs, and expressed optimism about Cook replicating his excellent goalscoring form in the upcoming season.
