2015 League of Ireland Attendances - The Story so far

92 games have played out in the League of Ireland to date. The following article bases its figures off 76 official attendances with 15 estimated.

 

Ten Gameweeks in, the opening weekend of the league remains the best week for people heading to watch Airtricity League football. Over the ten games, an average of 1,811 people attended each game. There was a steady decline in that average from Gameweek 1 until Gameweek 6 when the average picked up again (1,401). Gameweek 8 remains the lowest with 1,159 on average passing through the turnstiles.

 

But what of each club? Some clubs have improved, some have seen a steady drop off in attendances. There is a table at the bottom of this article outlining every attendance figure so far in the league with club totals, club averages, Gameweek totals and Gameweek averages.

 

130,218 people have attended the first ten Gameweeks. Cork City have provided 22,266 of that figure, followed by Shamrock Rovers (18,580) and Dundalk (16,256). On the other end of the scale, UCD have seen 1,086 over their first five home fixtures, with Wexford Youths managing 1,388.

 

Cork City’s average attendance of 4,453 tops the tables. In contrast UCD have an average attendance of 217. New boys Cabinteely have impressed with their attendances and sit 10th overall with an average of 1,052 and are the highest ranked First Division team. Finn Harps however have seen a steady rise in punters coming to their games and sit 11th overall.
