League of Ireland Attendances - Gameweek 5

The steady drop in attendances continued apace for Gameweek 5 with 12,917 playing customers passed through the turnstiles across ten grounds. The figure represent a fall of 5,196 people from Gameweek 1.

Shamrock Rovers Dublin derby clash with Bohemians came out on top of the pile with an attendance of 4,341. Dundalk followed with 3,021. Apart from Galway United’s 1,251 strong crowd, all seven other games came in under 1,000.

With a number of games falling on Good Friday this week, it would have been a perfect opportunity to market League of Ireland as an alternative to the usual end of week pub call. Whether or not any pro-active marketing has been done remains to be seen but hopefully this week figures for matches will have increased, stopping the slide they have been on since Gameweek 1.

Please note that three of our ten attendance figures are estimates. In all cases, figures have been requested from the clubs and if we get them we will update this article accordingly.
