Kenny went on to spend eight seasons with the Wombles, most of which were played out in the top tier of English football, and he made 250 league appearances for the club before eventually moving on to Birmingham City in the summer of 2002. He remained at St Andrews for four years, making over 100 league appearances, and in July 2006 he signed for Sunderland. Kenny won 72 international caps for the Republic of Ireland between 1996 and 2005 and is now a respected football pundit on Irish television.
