Gavin’s Biography

Gavin originally signed for Finn Harps in 1998, spending some time in the youth and reserve sides during that 98/99 season. He later went to Omagh Town for a couple of seasons, where he established himself as one of the top keepers in the Irish League, but came back on loan to Harps in 2003 when he kept a clean sheet in each of the six league games in which he played.

Harps finally captured his permanent signature prior to the start of the 2004 season before loaning him out to Newry City towards the end of 2005. He returned to Harps for the 2006 season but spent much of that year as understudy to Ciaran Gallagher.

Gavin had regained his place by 2009 but was injured in a match against Sporting Fingal in April, after which Gallagher made the No1 spot his own. Gavin left the club in July 2009 season to join Institute in the Irish League.

One year later Gavin was back at Finn Park, signing for James Gallagher in July 2010. In December 2010 Gavin moved back to the Irish League, signing with Coleraine. He spent two seasons there without securing a regular first team place and he was released by the club on 13 January 2013.

In February 2013 Gavin signed for Ulster Senior League side Cockhill Celtic and he was part of the squad that qualified for the 2014 FAI Cup. He was also a part of the squad that faced Finn Harps in the EA Sports Cup in March 2016.
