Dane’s Biography

Dane is a left back who can also play in midfield. He came through the underage ranks at Bray Wanderers and made the breakthrough to the senior Bray team in 2008. He made his senior debut in a League Cup tie against Shamrock Rovers in May '08 and went on to play five times that year for the Wicklow side. He made 34 appearances in 2009 and scored his first senior goal against Shamrock Rovers, going on to score three more goals that season.

Dane played 31 times for Bray in the 2010 season and was also the Supporters club Player of the Month in April of that year. The Dublin born player appeared 26 times and scored one goal for Wanderers in 2011, adding another 27 league appearances in 2012.

In December 2012 Dane left Bray to sign for Stephen Kenny at Dundalk and made his club debut against Shamrock Rovers on the opening night of the 2013 season. He went on to score four times in 30 league appearances as the Lilywhites finished second in the league to eventual champions St Patrick's Athletic.

In 2014 Dane and was part of a Dundalk defence that kept sixteen clean sheets in the league. He played in all thirty-three league games, scoring two goals, as Dundalk won the league title.. Dane re-signed for the Louth club for the 2015 season and made 32 league appearances for the club, scoring four times, as Dundalk once more won the Premier Division title. He also appeared in both Champions League ties, as the Lilywhites went out to BATE Borisov, and played in his first FAI Cup Final, in which Dundalk beat Cork City 1-0 after extratime.

In 2016 Dane won his third league winners medal, making another 30 league appearances as the Lilywhites made it three-in-a-row in the Premier Division. He also appeared in his second FAI Cup final although Dundalk were beaten on this occasion, going down 1-0 to Cork City after extra-time.

In November 2018, Dane signed with Dundalk for two more seasons. After 8 years with the club, Dane announced he was leaving Dundalk in January 2021 after 291 appearances, scoring 24 goals and winning five league titles, three FAI Cups, three League Cups, two President’s Cups and the 2019 United the Union Champions Cup.

In January 2021, Dane signed for Drogheda ahead of the new season. He spent two seasons with the Drogs, leaving at the end of 2022 to return to his former club, Bray Wanderers, ahead of their 2023 First Division campaign.

2023 would be Dane's last season in LOI football and he announced his retirement from the game in January 2024.
