Ian’s Biography
Ian started his career at Bolton Wanderers in 1969 where he played for four years before spending three seasons at Chester City. He left Chester in 1976 and spent one season at Cambridge United, followed by a year at Rochdale in 1977/78.
For the next two years Ian had short spells at Wigan Athletic, Macclesfield Town, non-league Runcorn and Stockport County. He then jetted off to Australia in 1979 where he played with Newcastle United, returning in 1980 to join Cork United ahead of their 1980/81 season.
He scored on his League debut for United, in a 1-1 draw with Dundalk at Flower Lodge on 7 September 1980 but played just four times in the league before being released at the end of September 1980.
