Mick's playing career began at St Patrick's Athletic before a move to Drogheda United in 1970. He spent four seasons at United Park and then returned for a second, brief stint at St Pats.
In 1974 he signed for Shamrock Rovers where he played for three years, moving on in 1977 for short spells at Bluebell United and Thurles Town. He then had three years at Galway United which ended in 1981.
After his time at Terryland Park Mick moved into player manager roles in the Leinster Senior League and was in charge at Ballyfermot United when they reached the fourth round of the FAI Cup in 1985/86.
He spent most of the 1990s managing the Republic of Ireland women's international side before a spell as assistant manager at Shamrock Rovers.
In 2003 he took over the reins at Monaghan United and spent seven years at Gortakeegan before taking over at Drogheda United in 2011. He took the Drogs into Europe and a narrow defeat at the hands of Swedish side Malmo but left in 2013.
Spells at Athlone Town and Bray Wanderers followed and in 2018 he took on the job at Newbridge Town.
