Dean’s Biography

Dean started off in Arsenal's academy before moving to Scotland to play for Hibernian. He stayed at Hibs for five seasons, scoring over forty league goals in over a hundred appearances, before returning south of the border to join Doncaster Rovers in February of 2009. He played two and a half seasons at the club before leaving for Kilmarnock on loan in the 2011-12 season and joining the Scottish side fully in January 2012.

Kilmarnock were being managed by Dean's father Kenny at the time and together they went on to win the Scottish League Cup in March of 2012, with Dean having scored the winner in the semi-final agaisnt Ayr United. Having been shortlisted for Players' Player of the Year, Dean left for Rangers at the end of the 2011/12 season.

Dean started well with Rangers, then down in the Third Division, as they were promoted at the first time of asking, although he missed the end of the season due to injury. Injuries affected him once more as Rangers got promoted from the then Second Division the following season. He was also involved as the team returned to the top tier of Scottish football in the 2015-16 season as well as winning the Scottish Challenge Cup and getting the final of the Scottish League Cup.

Dean left Rangers at the end of the 2015/16 season and, in August 2016, signed for Dundalk in the League of Ireland. He made his LOI debut away to Wexford Youths on 26 August and scored three times in 8 league appearances as Dundalk won their third consecutive league title. He also played in four of the Lilywhites' Europa League group stage games and scored twice in four FAI Cup appearances including one goal against Derry City in the semi-finals who were managed by his father Kenny.

In February 2017 Dean signed for FC Edmonton in the North American Soccer League.

In March 2021, Dean became Dungannon Swifts manager.
