Simon’s Biography
Simon is the son of former Swedish international Jonas Thern and, like his father, he started his career with IFK Värnamo who were then in the third tier of Swedish football.
He made his league debut in 2008 and in his first two seasons with Värnamo he made 26 league appearances. His ability caught the eye of Alvenskan side IF Helsingborgs who signed him in 2010 but loaned him straight back to Värnamo where he scored eight times in 21 league games helping them to promotion to the the Superettan (second division).
In 2011 Simon made his Allsvenskan debut for Helsingborgs and scored two goals in 23 league outings on the way to winning the 2011 league title. In 2012 he transferred to Malmö FF where he became an immediate first team choice and missed only two league games in his first season.
Simon has been capped twice at senior international level by Sweden.
