Adam played with St Patrick's Athletic U19s in 2011/12 and took part in the club's 2012 Leinster Senior Cup campaign. He moved to Shelbourne for their 2012/13 U19 campaign and also made his league debut for the Reds on 26 July 2013 when he lined out against UCD at the Belfield Bowl. He made 5 league appearances as Shelbourne were relegated at the end of the season. The following year Adam became a regular in the Shels back line and made 19 league appearances as well as playing in both of the club's unsuccessful promotion play-off games against Galway FC.

Adam signed back with Shelbourne ahead of the 2015 season shortly before Christmas and he continued to be a regular in the side, making twenty-three league appearances during the 2015 First Division. He also scored twice, in a 1-0 win over Cabinteely and in a 2-1 defeat to UCD, as Shelbourne finished just outside the play-offs in fourth. Adam made 22 appearances in 2016 for Shels in the League along with another three appearances in Cup competitions.

Adam then re-signed with Shelbourne for the 2017 season. Adam signed with Longford ahead of the 2018 season.
