Val’s Biography

Val carved out a considerable reputation as a schoolboy with Co Offaly side Birr Town and had already been capped for the Republic of Ireland at under-age level when, aged just sixteen, he signed for Athlone Town on 27 January 2012. Val made his league debut for Athlone as a substitute in a 1-0 away win over Mervue United on 23 March 2012. He made 11 league appearances that year, scoring once, in a 3-2 home defeat to Waterford United. At the end of the 2012 season Val left Athlone to join newly promoted Limerick FC.

In 2013 Val was a key member of Limerick's U19 side and he also made 4 league appearances for Limerick FC as they finished 7th in the Premier Division. He re-signed for Limerick for 2014 and added a further 2 league appearances to his name whilst also playing with the club's U19 squad. In 2015 Val was again included in the senior set-up and made another 2 league appearances off the bench as Limerick were relegated to the First Division.

Val remained on contract with Limerick in 2016 but moved on loan to First Division rivals Athlone Town for the season. He made 10 league appearances for the Midlands side, scoring once in a 2-2 draw with Cobh Ramblers, before returning to Limerick at the end of June.
