Danny’s Biography
Formerly with Midleton, Danny made his senior debut for Cork City Foras Co-op, coming on as a substitute against Salthill Devon on 22nd October 2010. Danny continued to play for Cork City's U17 side and in June 2011 he scored in the U17 Youth Cup final win over Killarney Celtic. A few days later he signed a senior contract with Cork City and went on to make 5 league appearances as the club claimed the 2011 First Division title.
Danny added 3 more league appearances in 2012 but it was in 2013 that he established himself as a regular in the City line-up. He scored his first league goal in the 2-1 win away to Bohemians in May and bagged a Hat-trick in the 4-1 win over Derry at Turner's Cross in August. In all Danny netted nine times in the league that season prompting a series of close season trials in England but his progress was halted by injury and he missed the majority of the 2014 season under new manager John Caulfield. Danny made just 7 league appearances that year, all as a substitute, only joining the campaign in the summer months, as City went on to finish second in the Premier Division table.
In 2015 Danny made 17 league appearances and scored twice in the league, as well as getting the only goal in the FAI Cup semi-final against Bray Wanderers. Cork once again finished runners-up to Dundalk in the league and Danny also played in the FAI Cup Final in which Dundalk defeated Cork 1-0 after extra-time. 2016 saw the arrival of Sean Maguire on Leeside and Danny made just four league starts, totalling 17 league appearances with his appearances from the bench. He scored three times in the league but was not involved on FAI Cup final day when Cork avenged the previous year's defeat by beating Dundalk 1-0 at the Aviva.
Danny then signed for Finn Harps in November 2016 ahead of the 2017 campaign. In 2017 Danny started 15 times, appearing in a total of 21 games scoring 5 goals in the process.
In November 2017, Danny signed with Limerick FC after Finn Harps were relegated during the 2016 campaign.
Following Limerick's relegation at the end of the 2018 season, Morrissey returned to his schoolboy club Midleton.
