Paul played for several years with Wexford side New Ross Celtic, winning amateur international status in 2009 and winning multiple league and cup medals with the club. In the 2011 he was part of the New Ross team that reached the third round of the FAI Cup where they lost 3-0 to near neighbours Waterford United.

Paul then signed for the Blues on July 6th 2011 and made his debut two days later against Shelbourne at Tolka Park. His first goal for Waterford came on 22 July in a 1-1 draw with Mervue United at Fahy's Field. He made 13 league appearances in his debut season, scoring twice.

In 2012 Paul appeared 26 times in the league and added another two goals to his career tally, but at the end of the season he left the club to re-join his former team mares at New Ross Celtic.
