Neil’s Biography

Neil is a Derry born midfielder who joined London side Charlton Athletic as a 17 year-old in 2000. He had a couple of loan spells during his five years at the Valley, at Cambridge United and Rushden & Diamonds, and when he was released by Charlton at the end of 2004/05 he signed at permanent deal at Rushden.

Neil was with Rushden for just one season and in July 2006 he returned home to sign for Derry City. He made his debut for the Candystripes against Bray Wanderers at the Carlisle Grounds on 4 August, but injury then ruled him out for the rest of the season. He managed just 7 more league appearances in 2007 and in January 2008 Neil went back to England, signing for non-league side Grays Athletic.

Six months later Neil was back in Ireland, signed for Finn Harps on 1st July. He made his debut in a 1-0 home defeat to Cork City on 11 July. He made 15 league appearances for Harps before joining Dungannon Swifts in January 2009 and going to play for Portadown and Ballymena United (on loan) in the Irish League.

He joined Portadown at the beginning of the 2010/11 season and returned to the club in 2011 after a short spell with Ballymena United. He later signed for Coleraine.

Neil has also represented the Republic of Ireland at U16, U17, U18 & U19 level.
