DROGHEDA UNITED
Drogheda will be hoping to bounce back from last week’s FAI Cup exit to Derry City when they welcome Cobh Ramblers to United Park on Friday. (KO 7:45PM).
Late goals from Stephen Mallon and Ciaron Harkin knocked Tim Clancy’s side out of the cup after a spirited performance.
Previous to their cup exit, United went six games unbeaten in all competitions.
Since the League of Ireland re-start Clancy’s side have managed wins over the likes of Bray, Galway and Wexford as well as draws against Athlone and Shamrock Rovers II.
It’s the first of two important games in the space of three days, as after Friday night United welcome league leaders Cabinteely to United Park on Monday.
At the time of writing Drogheda hadn’t released any team news.
COBH RAMBLERS
Like Drogheda, Cobh will be looking to put FAI Cup heartbreak behind them on Friday night.
Goals from Dane Massey and David McMillan meant Dundalk overcame Cobh in a second round tie at St Colman’s Park last Sunday.
Cobh went into that game with confidence having beaten Longford and Wexford in recent weeks.
In fact, since lockdown Ramblers have lost just once in five First Division games.
That came in a 1-0 defeat away to league leaders Cabinteely.
After their trip to Louth on Friday Stuart Ashton will prepare his side for a trip to Dublin to take on Shamrock Rovers II at Tallaght Stadium on Monday.
At the time of writing Cobh hadn’t provided any team new.
