KERRY
Emerging First Division side Kerry host league winners Cork City at Mounthawk Park on Friday night (kick-off is at 7.45pm).
The Kingdom are currently ninth in the table and now face City who were crowned second tier champions just last week.
But Kerry boss Conor McCarthy is excited for the challenge that awaits his side at home.
“We are looking forward to it. It’s an exciting game for us to play,” he said. “They’ve signed some very good players during the window so it’s a brilliant test and challenge for us to play against a team like that.
“So like that myself, the players, the club as a whole are looking forward to it.”
Kerry are expected to have a full-fit squad to choose from for the game.
CORK CITY
Champions Cork City return to league action after being officially declared league winners last weekend against UCD.
The Leesiders 1-0 triumph at Belfield mathematically ensured that nobody could catch them at the top of the table.
But Tim Clancy’s men have been on a procession to the title for a number of months now.
And they can even break a First Division defensive record if they do not concede a goal between now and the end of the season.
City have only given up 12 goals this term, which may see them set the record for the least amount of goals conceded in a 36-game First Division campaign.
Shamrock Rovers hold the current record with 13 conceded in the 2006 season.
City have not issued any team news for their trip to Kerry.
Referee: Mark Houlihan.
