COBH RAMBLERS
Cobh Ramblers will play their first ‘home’ league game of the season at Turner’s Cross on Friday night (kick-off is at 7.45pm).
Ramblers will play their first three home fixtures of the season at the Cross to facilitate works at their St Colman’s Park home.
And Gary Hunt’s men will be keen to make it a nice temporary home after their opening night loss against Treaty United at the Market’s Field.
Ramblers lost 3-1 against the Shannonsiders but have a chance to make amends against possible play-off rivals Athlone Town.
“Athlone is the big one we are looking forward to at Turner’s Cross,” Hunt told Cork’s 96FM this week.
“We’ll hopefully put a plan together that gets us off to a good start.”
ATHLONE TOWN
Play-off contenders Athlone Town make the trip south in buoyant mood after dismissing Wexford 3-0 at home last weekend.
New recruits Jamal Ibrahim and Armado Oakley both netted for Dario Castelo’s side - with defender Noah van Geenen also finding the scoresheet.
But this trip will be a test of their collective mettle.
Athlone are already without the services of Jamar Campion-Hinds through injury while Ruben Candal is returning following a lay-off.
But they are likely to be able to call on the services of Shamrock Rovers loanee Gideon Tetteh after his arrival last weekend.
Referee: Alan Patchell.
