League Report: Bray Wanderers 2 - 2 Cobh Ramblers

Bray Wanderers and Cobh Ramblers played out an entertaining two all draw at the Carlisle Grounds on Friday night. A double from Matt McKevitt cancelled out goals from Bray’s Conor Knight and Cole Omoriehomwan as the visitors snatched a late point.
Ian Ryan’s Wanderers had scored in the dying embers of last weekend’s encounter with Longford Town to rescue a draw and the former Shelbourne and Dundalk defender would have been delighted with the start his side made as Conor Knight nodded a deft Peter Grogan delivery to the net for the opener on twenty minutes. They had a couple of chances to double the lead but Darragh Burke in the Cobh goal made a number of fine saves to deny first Morgan and then Cruise.
The netminder turned gamekeeper later in the half as his long delivery found Matt McKevitt on the right wing and the former UCC attacker poked the ball beyond the advancing McGuinness to kiss the inside of the post and tie up the game as the first half reached its conclusion.
With just under half an hour remaining, the Seagulls retook the lead. Cole Omoriehomwan poking a free kick to the net from close range for the defender’s second league goal of the campaign. As the game wore on, both goalkeepers made close range parries to keep their respective teams in the game and just as it looked like the home side would take all three points, McKevitt struck again with a composed touch and low finish from just inside the area.
The result leaves Bray, Cobh and Athlone Town all tied on 6 points with Ramblers having the best goal difference of the trio and a game in hand to sit sixth, a point behind 5th placed Wexford.
