Premier Division side Drogheda United host Munster Senior League opposition Wilton United of Cork in the second round of the FAI Cup (kick-off at 7.45pm).
DROGHEDA UNITED
The home side for this clash sit bottom of the Premier Division in the middle of a tough season for the Boynesiders. They have only gotten one win in 27 matches, most recently a 2-0 win at home to Waterford in July.
The Drogs have found success in other competitions, reaching the semi-final of the Leinster Senior Cup but were knocked out by St. Mochtas.
Their FAI Cup run began with a massive 2-1 win over fierce rivals Dundalk at Weavers Park. That result has spurred a change in fortune for the Louth side as they are unbeaten in their last three games.
While they are very much focused on the relegation battle with Dundalk, who they sit only 2 points behind in the table currently, Drogheda will be looking for a deep run in the cup with a trip to the Aviva Stadium at the end.
Centre-back Jack Keaney has stated that the squad know the threat of an upset looms large, especially after the result away to St. Mochtas in the Leinster Senior Cup.
There are no fresh injury concerns for Drogheda United with Gary Deegan returning from injury likely to feature prominently.
WILTON UNITED
Cork based Wilton United are a side in the second tier of Munster Senior League football but have found more success in the FAI Cup this year.
Their journey began with a home fixture against FAI Intermediate Cup champions Glebe North, who won that title in Weavers Park earlier this year. Wilton came out on top 1-0 in that match.
Wilton got the rub of the green once more in the second round when they were once again drawn at home, but this time to fellow Cork team Carrigaline United. Another tough fixture but one they came out on top as 2-1 victors in.
By far the toughest draw Wilton have had in the competition and will need to really dig in to get a result against in a ground where the players thrive off the energy of the crowd, but will know that stranger things have happened.
