WEXFORD
Wexford have confirmed that midfielder Aaron Robinson is nearly at ‘full fitness’ ahead of their crunch clash against Bray Wanderers at home on Friday night (kick-off is at 7.45pm).
The Slaneysiders were edged out of the FAI Cup last weekend by Cork City at Turner’s Cross despite taking a 1-0 against their Premier Division foes.
But they have been boosted with the impending return of Robinson who suffered a serious injury earlier this season.
And last week, boss James Keddy told extratime.com that his play-off chasers were close to welcoming him back to the fold.
“He's trained during the last four weeks and he's played in a couple of games for the Under-19s so he's knocking on my door.
“Robbo started off the season brilliantly for us and he had three goals in four games. But then he had a terrible injury up in Finn Harps so it's great to have him back because he drives lads on.
“He's got great enthusiasm and he's worked hard to get back to where he was as well. Listen, he's very, very close to playing. One thing I've learned over the years is that when you Under-19s games it’s totally different (to first-team).
“It will take him a couple of weeks to get back to himself. He's got to be patient as well. But he's a great attitude and he's got experience around the base. And he drives lads on because that enthusiasm is infectious around the place.”
BRAY WANDERERS
After being held to a late draw against Treaty United last weekend at the Carlisle Grounds, Bray Wanderers must defeat Wexford if they have any realistic hope of reaching the play-offs.
The Seagulls are now six points behind Keddy’s side with just six games to play – but a win would breathe new life into their chances.
However, a defeat would likely end their hopes of securing a top-five finish, while a draw would just about keep them in the race.
Although, they have been boosted in recent weeks with strikers Yoyo Mahdy and Jake Walker finding their feet in the goalscoring stakes.
Walker – former of St Patrick’s Athletic as a youth – scored a brace in last weekend’s draw against Treaty at the Carlisle Grounds.
But in terms of team news, the Wanderers are likely to be without the services of Ben Feeney for the rest of the season.
Referee: Marc Lynch.
