TREATY UNITED
With their play-off hopes hanging by a thread, Treaty United welcome Athlone Town to the Market’s Field on Friday night (kick-off is at 7.45pm).
The Shannonsiders have endured a patchy season but have enjoyed some good moments throughout the campaign.
And one of which was a late draw against Bray Wanderers last weekend to keep them in touch with fifth-placed Wexford.
But they are still seven points behind the Slaneysiders having played a game more than James Keddy’s side.
With that in mind, it is difficult to see them forcing their way back into contention
“It’s going to be very difficult but we will be looking to win every game,” boss Tommy Barrett told Limerick’s 95FM last weekend.
“It’s going to be very difficult and there is no sugar-coating it. obviously, our aim was to finish as high as possible and make the play-offs but it is not the end of the world.
“We’ll be trying to win every game and finish as high as we can.”
ATHLONE TOWN
On 46 points, Athlone Town can nearly all but seal a top-five finish when they travel to Limerick on Friday night.
Last weekend’s 2-1 victory against Kerry ensured that Dario Castelo’s side are in a strong position to reach the play-offs as they sit eight points ahead of sixth-placed Longford Town.
But that gap can disappear quickly if they lose on Friday night and Longford defeat Waterford and win their game in hand against Wexford on Monday evening.
However, Athlone should have more than enough to get over the line for a play-off battle at the end of October.
And Castelo’s men will take confidence heading into the game against Treaty on Friday night with the likes of Dylan Gavin supplementing star striker Frantz Pierrot in the attacking areas of the pitch.
Athlone have not issued any team news for Friday’s game.
Referee: Daniel Murphy.
