Cork City breezed into the last-eight of the FAI Cup thanks to 3-0 win over First Division promotion chasers Waterford.
And the win could prove itself to be key for Liam Buckley’s side as they attempt to drag themselves out of a relegation battle.
City sit ninth in the Premier Division and are five points behind eighth-placed Drogheda United.
But they will be hoping that they can used their win over Waterford to catapult them away from danger.
Ruairi Keating opened the scoring for City with a very early strike after getting on the end of a Cian Bargary cross into the penalty area.
And they doubled their advantage in the 17th minute when Josh Honohan headed in at the back post.
But the Leesiders had to wait until the 88th minute to put the seal on the win when Bargary netted his deserved goal.
Roland Idowu was then dismissed in injury time to compound Waterford’s woes on their travels.
