WEXFORD YOUTHS
Wexford Youths will be aiming to extend their unbeaten run to thirteen games on Saturday when they host Cork City at Ferrycarrig Park in the Women’s National League (kick-off 6.30pm).
Youths are still within touching distance of the top of the table with the side just a point behind Peamount United and Shelbourne.
They recovered well, to say the least, from their opening day loss to Peamount at home and they are now on a twelve game unbeaten streak and making a good go at a title challenge so far in 2021.
Last week saw the side claim their fourth win in a row when they travelled to Eamonn Deacy Park.
It was a narrow 1-0 win over the Tribeswomen after Edel Kennedy took advantage of a mistake in the first half, but the visitors were still deserving of their three points on the day.
That win keeps them close to the top of the table and another win this weekend against Cork City could put them top of the WNL.
CORK CITY
Paul Farrell’s Cork City are experiencing a resurgence in recent weeks after a torrid start to their 2021 campaign.
They claimed their first win of the season in game eleven of their WNL campaign with a 1-0 win over Bohemians, they narrowly lost 1-0 to DLR Waves two weeks ago before claiming an additional point in a 202 draw with Athlone Town last weekend.
Their result against Shelbourne at the end of June should be kept in mind with the Reds only just claiming a win with another 1-0 result that Cork City came out on the wrong end of.
Things have certainly turned around at Turners Cross in recent weeks and they will be able to test themselves once again against a tough and experienced Wexford Youths side this Saturday.
MATCH STATS
The Rebels are enjoying a good spell of form with just one loss from their last three games.
