TREATY UNITED
Both sides will be looking for their first win of the season when Treaty United host Wexford Youths in the Women’s National League on Sunday (kick-off 2pm).
Despite a disappointing opening day loss to Bohemians which saw the Limerick side concede 6 goals, Niall Connolly’s side recovered well during their meeting with Athlone Town two weeks ago.
A 3-3 draw will still have been disappointing for Treaty United however, especially considering the side took the lead in the 36th minute only to concede the equalizer in the 63rd minute.
Treaty will definitely be pleased with their exploits in front of goal at the very least with 5 goals so far this season but the amount they’ve conceded will surely be a concern especially as they are scheduled to face one of the stronger teams in the League this weekend.
Niall Connolly will be without the services of Esra Kangal (quad) and Gillian Keenan (hamstring) this weekend due to injury while Jenna Slattery is serving a suspension having been sent off during the game against Athlone Town two weeks ago.
Maura and Anna Shine are also absent as the pair prepare for Leaving Cert examinations.
WEXFORD YOUTHS
Youths have had a tough start to their WNL campaign this season.
An opening day loss to Champions Peamount United will surely still be raw for the side, not only because of Eleanor Ryan Doyle’s late winner, but also Kylie Murphy’s missed penalty just minutes before.
Waves provided a stern test for Tom Elmes side but Youths managed to battel back from a goal down to rescue a point two weeks ago at the UCD Bowl.
Wexford had a convincing win over Treaty last season when the sides met for the first time ever and the 4 time Champions will be looking to move up the table with a win this weekend.
Elmes has almost a full squad to choose from with Lauren Kelly the only absentee as she continues her recovery from injury.
MATCH STATS
Both sides come into the weekend looking for their first win of the season.
Treaty met Youths just once during their inaugural WNL season with the Limerick side losing 5-1 last September.
United’s Rebecca Horgan is joint second highest goal scorer so far this WNL season, among several other, with 2 goals.
