PEAMOUNT UNITED
Peamount United will be looking to continue their winning start to the season when they host Galway in the Women’s National League on Saturday (kick-off 4pm).
Peas have won all seven of their games this season and they look almost unstoppable at the moment.
They have conceded just twice this season and Eleanor Ryan Doyle has fired herself to the top of the goalscoring charts with eight goals to her name so far.
James O’Callaghan’s side made the trip to the UCD Bowl last weekend to face DLR Waves where they won 2-0.
Áine O’Gorman set up Ryan-Doyle for her first of the game in the 17th minute with the striker securing her brace in the 57th minute from the penalty spot to seal the three points for United.
With Galway struggling for form in recent weeks, the current WNL Champions will be looking at this game as a great opportunity to extend their spectacular winning streak to 15 games.
GALWAY
The Tribeswomen have continued their tough run of form in recent weeks with a third loss in a row last weekend to Athlone Town.
Billy Clery and Dave Bell departed the club in the days leading up to the game with Maz Sweeney stepping in as caretaker manager as the side lost 4-3 at Eamonn Deacy Park.
The sides were 3-3 for most of the second half until Muireann Devaney scored in injury time to claim the victory with Athlone having been reduced to ten players earlier in the match.
In terms of positives for Galway, Abbie Callanan scored her first ever WNL goal for the club, with Lynsey McKey adding two to her own tally for the 2021 campaign during the game.
Earlier this week Galway WFC announced former Galway United manager Stephen Lally as their new manager.
While this will be a tough test for Galway it will also be a good chance for Lally to see exactly where his team are at in relation to the stronger teams in the League when they face Peas on Saturday.
The club also confirmed that defender Lucia Lobato has re-signed with the club after returning from America where she currently plays for University of Akron Zips in Ohio.
