GALWAY
The Tribeswomen will be aiming to get back to winning ways when they host Treaty United in the Women’s National League at Eamonn Deacy Park on Saturday (kick-off 4pm).
Galway played their first away game of the season last Saturday and a much improved DLR Waves proved a major challenge for Billy Clery’s side.
A Kate Mooney goal put Galway behind in the 15th minute and that’s the way it stayed until Rachel Kearns powered home a header in the 79th minute to draw the sides level.
It looked like Galway were going to continue their run of unbeaten games late into the game until Katie Malone took advantage from a goalkeeping error in the 87th minute to give the Tribeswomen their first loss of the season.
Rachel Kearns getting back on score sheet for the third straight game was a positive that the side could take from last week and the Mayo native will be eyeing more goals this weekend as the striker tries to remain top of the goalscoring charts.
Chloe Singleton misses the game for the Tribeswomen as the midfielder serves a suspension having been sent off during the side’s 3-1 win over Bohemians earlier this season.
TREATY UNITED
Treaty are still looking for their first win of the season with three games played so far this WNL campaign.
Wexford Youths claimed their first victory at United’s expense last weekend with 7-1 the final score at Jackman Park.
It was the Ellen Molloy show rather than a completely one sided affair as the teenager netted four times herself during the game.
Aoife Cronin netted for the second time for Treaty United.
Niall Connolly’s side face another tough test on Saturday against a Galway side with a potent attack but if the Limerick side can keep it tight at the back they will give a decent account of themselves on the banks of the Corrib.
Treaty will be without Gillian Keenan and Alana Roddy due to injury for Saturday’s game, while Maura Shine and Anna Shine continue to be absent as they prepare for their Leaving Certificate exams.
United will be boosted by the return of cub captain Esra Kangal to the match day squad with the player having missed out of late due to a groin strain.
