BOHEMIANS
The Gypsies face a stern test this weekend when they host Peamount United in the Women’s National League on Saturday (kick-off 2pm).
Sean Byrne’s side are having a great WNL campaign so far this season with four points secured from their opening games.
Bohs secured a huge result last weekend when they showed great character to come from behind twice and draw 3-3 with Cork City.
Erica Burke opened the scoring for the Dublin side only for Lauren Egbuloniu to score two unanswered goals to give Cork the lead going into half time.
Aoife Robinson drew the sides level only for City to take the lead through Aoife Shine three minutes later.
Chloe Darby, one of the key performers this season for Bohemians, scored from the penalty spot in the 83rd minute to ensure the points would be shared.
Peamount will be a bigger challenge again for Sean Byrne’s team but this will be a good time to see where they are at against the current WNL Champions.
Bohemians have a full squad to choose from for the game against the current WNL Champions this weekend.
PEAMOUNT UNITED
On first view it seems that Peamount United have gone about their business quietly so far this season with no huge score line racked up so far by the WNL Champions in their first two games.
They have done what they needed to however, and against two of the stronger teams in the League with a 1-0 over Wexford Youths before beating Shelbourne 2-1 last week.
That victory over the Reds could be one of the key results of the season already and it was Peas fifth victory in a row over their rivals.
Goals from Eleanor Ryan-Doyle and Aine O’Gorman put the Champions out in front last week and despite a Ciara Grant goal in the second half they held firm to claim the three points.
With United aiming for their tenth WNL victory in a row on Saturday they will be expecting to do the business once again against Bohemians.
MATCH STATS
Bohemians and Peamount met just once during the 2020 season and Peas won 3-0 on that occasion as they went on to win the WNL Title.
The Gypsies’ Chloe Darby is one of the top players for assists so far this season with the midfielder joint top of the table on 3 with Shelbourne’s Emily Whelan.
Bohs have scored the most goals so far this season with 10 goals to their name already in 2021.
Peamount are aiming for their 10th WNL win in a row on Saturday.
