DERRY CITY
Derry City will be looking to build on Friday’s big derby win over Finn Harps when they host Sligo Rovers at the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium.
The Candystripes come into Monday’s game with a full bill of health after Will Patching’s brace saw off Harps in Ballybofey.
“We’re all good to go and that’s a credit to the excellent medical team we have at the club,” Higgins told his club’s media team.
“The games have been coming thick and fast all year and they have managed things brilliantly.
“Sligo come here challenging at the very top of the table and we know how good a side they are. They have great options at the top end of the pitch, but then so do we.
“It’ll be great to have a few more supporters in too and hopefully they can lift us the same way they did against Bohs.
“We’re genuinely looking forward to the game- that comes with confidence- and we’ll be doing everything we can to pick up another three points.”
SLIGO ROVERS
Sligo Rovers will be looking to get back to winning ways on Monday evening as they take on Derry City.
The Bit O’Red were seen off by St Patrick’s Athletic on Friday evening by two goals to nil – and fell behind the Saints in the league table on goal difference.
But Monday’s trip to the Brandywell offers Liam Buckley’s side a chance to redeem themselves after losing two on the bounce.
They were in fact beaten by Derry last time the teams met at the Showgrounds – with that game being Ruaidhri Higgins’ first as new Derry boss.
Will Patching’s penalty was the difference on that occasion – but Sligo find themselves ten points clear of Derry who are in 6th position on 21 points.
In terms of team news, Darren Collins is expected to be Sligo’s sole absentee this evening.
Referee: Derek Tomney.
MATCH STATS
Derry City are unbeaten in their previous seven league games – although they have only won three times since then.
Meanwhile, Sligo Rovers have lost their last two games on the bounce, losing to Drogheda United and St Patrick’s Athletic
