WEXFORD
Wexford face a tough challenge in the First Division this Friday night when they welcome the unbeaten UCD to Ferrycarrig Park (kick-off 7.45pm)
It’s been a tough start to the season for Brian O’Sullivan’s Wexford after five games played this season.
The side have lost all five games and they are currently propping up the First Division.
Last Friday night they travelled to face top of the table Athlone town and were dismissed 3-0 by Adrian Carberry’s side.
Goals from Jamie Hollywood, James Doona and Shane Barnes were enough to ensure Wexford remained without a point this season.
Worrying too for O’Sullivan is the lack of goals scored by his side with Kyle Robinson and Luke Turner the only players to score for Wexford this season.
In terms of team news, Jack Connolly is close to returning for Wexford while Cameron Power remains sidelined with a long term injury. Dan Tobin will also be absent for this weekend’s game.
UCD
The Students have had a good start to their campaign having gone five games unbeaten and they find themselves in third place, equal on points with Treaty United.
Last week they travelled to face a stuttering Galway United who are still without a win on the field this season.
Andy Myler’s side took the lead in the first half through Colm Whelan before Ruarí Keating drew the sides level in the second half.
UCD got the go ahead goal when Gary Boylan scored an own goal for the Tribesmen in the 70th minute but John Caulfield’s side threw the kitchen sink at the Students and got their equalizer in the 87th minute with Padraic Cunningham heading home.
They travel to Wexford looking to continue their run of unbeaten games and for their third win of the season on Friday night.
