TREATY UNITED
Since suffering a defeat against Galway United six weeks ago, Treaty United have managed a four-match unbeaten run in the SSE Airtricity League of Ireland First Division.
Tommy Barrett’s men are in a rich vein of form having taken two points off runaway leaders Shelbourne, as well as tasting victory over Cork City, UCD and Athlone Town.
Treaty will draw plenty of confidence from their 4-1 victory over the Midlanders last week with Ed McCarthy, Jack Lynch, Sean McSweeney and Marc Ludden finding the net in a truly dominant display.
The result saw the Limerick-based outfit move up to second place in the league table which accurately reflects their remarkable consistency to date.
Despite such impressive form, manager Tommy Barrett is warning against complacency. In the aftermath of last week’s emphatic win he said, “you always have to be wary and looking over your shoulder in this division.”
“I know we have skipped past Galway on goal difference but there is a long way to go yet. We are just concentrating on Cabinteely. It’s going to be a very tough game for us and they are the only team we haven’t got anything off of this year yet.”
CABINTEELY
Cabinteely were 2-1 winners over Treaty when the sides last met in May, but their recent form is very concerning.
Pat Devlin’s side have suffered six league defeats in as many games and were also knocked out of the FAI Cup by bottom-placed Wexford.
Things won’t get much easier for Cabinteely this weekend either as they look to become only the second side to inflict a league defeat on Treaty at the Markets Field.
Manager Pat Devlin is fully aware of the difficult challenge facing his side tomorrow night.
“We are looking forward to the match because you are only as good as your last game,” said Devlin. “We weren’t very good last week against Bray. So, going to the Markets Field will be a real challenge for us.
“We have a few players back in the squad. We need to get back to winning ways. This group of players are fantastic. We just haven’t been producing what we are capable of.”
