TREATY UNITED
After falling to their first defeat of the season, Treaty United host Athlone Town at the Markets Field on Friday night (kick-off is at 7.45pm).
Treaty can perhaps find themselves unfortunate to have left UCD without a point last weekend, as they coughed up a two-goal lead against the Students.
Tommy Barrett’s side took the lead through Sean McSweeney before Kieran Hanlon doubled it just before the break.
But UCD came back and stunned Treaty to earn all three points at the UCD Bowl, to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.
In terms of team news, Clyde O’Connell, Kieran Hanlon, Sean McSweeney, Conor Melody, Aaron Fitzgerald and Marc Walsh are all expected to miss out.
Meanwhile, Sean Guerins and Joel Coulstrain are doubts.
ATHLONE TOWN
After falling to defeat last weekend, Athlone Town make the trip to Limerick to take on Treaty United at the Markets Field.
This will be their second trip to the ground this season, with the first already being a pre-season friendly against the league’s new-boys – a game that they lost.
And their midfielder Jamie Hollywood is expecting another tough trip down there.
“They were very good against us,” he said on Treaty United. “I know that we were quite poor in that pre-season game, but we were trying out different shapes and getting minutes into the legs, but we know going down there that it will be a tough game.
“They’re as good as any other side in this league and we’ll be looking to come out on the right end of the result because we need it right now.”
Should the Co. Westmeath secure another three points on Friday night, they will remain in the playoff positions – which is the aim for the club this season.
“The quality in our dressing room should be pushing towards the playoffs and we’ve said that,” he finished.
“We’re taking each game as it comes and anything else on top of the playoffs is a bonus.”
