League Preview: Cobh Ramblers -v- Cabinteely

COBH RAMBLERS

Cobh Ramblers will be looking to provide a huge dent to Cabinteely’s playoff aspirations when they host the Green and Whites at St Colman’s Park on Saturday evening (kick-off is at 7pm).

The Rams are unbeaten in five league games and have not been defeated at St Colman’s Park in the league since May.

Stuart Ashton’s side have reacted well since the departure of previous manager Stephen Henderson, lying fourth in the form table since his shock exit.

Speaking to his club’s media team ahead of the visit of Cabinteely, Ashton admits he is expecting a difficult test against the promotion contenders.

“The league table shows how they have gone this season. They are always competitive with Pat Devlin and Eddie Gormley and they will be well-drilled, well-organised.

“They’re pushing to be in the promotion shake-up, that’s their aim coming down here. We’re looking forward to a competitive, and hopefully entertaining, game to keep this good run going and keep progressing as a team.”

Matt Lambe is expected to miss out with injury along with Ben O’Riordan and James McSweeney who are major doubts for the visit of the Co. Cork outfit.

Cian Leonard is also a doubt while Charlie Lyons and Kevin Taylor are both out with suspension.

CABINTEELY

Cabinteely know that a win will seal their place in the playoffs on Saturday evening against Cobh Ramblers.

Cabo have an impressive run of results to their name away from home, beating the likes of Shelbourne, Drogheda United and Longford Town on their travels this term.

This will also prove to be the 18^th time Cabinteely have faced Cobh Ramblers since joining the league in 2015.

With their fate in their own hands, Cabinteely’s boss Pat Devlin is expecting a tough game against the Co. Cork side.

“It’s a long trip and always a tough place to go,” Devlin admitted.

“It will be a case of who to pick and who to leave out. It’s going to be a difficult game.

“But we’re looking forward to it. We’re back to the bread and butter stuff of trying to get a result.”

Jack Watson and Shane Barnes are both ruled out with injury, while Cabo will have been buoyed in recent days with the return of Cian Lynch to the club.
