LONGFORD TOWN
Longford Town welcome Shelbourne to City Calling Stadium this evening as they look to secure three points and their third league victory on the bounce (kick-off 7.30pm).
Neale Fenn’s side have beaten Wexford Town and Cobh Ramblers in their last two league outings and currently occupy sixth place in the league on 18 points, one point behind Shels.
Longford have a mixed enough home record at the City Calling Stadium so far this season. From six home games they have won three, lost two and shared the spoils on just one occasion.
A win this evening would give them their third successive league victory and would leave them just five points behind current league leaders UCD.
SHELBOURNE
Shelbourne come into the game looking to stretch their unbeaten run to five games but have only picked up three draws from their last three league games.
They currently sit just a point ahead of Longford on 19 points and will be eager to start turning draws into wins and keep in touch with the pace setters at the top.
Former Longford Town striker Dave O’Sullivan put in a man of the match performance and helped himself to a hat-trick in the first meeting between the sides earlier in the season.
Shelbourne came out on top on a 3-2 scoreline that day, Sam Verdon getting both goals for Longford.
Defender Aidan Collins is the only player who will miss the game tonight for Shelbourne as he continues his recovery from a shoulder injury.
David O’Sullivan currently leads the way as the league’s top goal scorer with 10 goals in just 11 games and is just one ahead of George Kelly.
MATCH STATS
These sides faced each other on four occasions in the league last season with one win each and two 0-0 draws.
