CABINTEELY
We are set to be treated to our first complete First Division fixture list this weekend after a nightmare few weeks involving floodlights, snow and a Storm called Emma.
The second round of league fixtures and the first round of the E.A Sports Cup were postponed and have been rescheduled to take place in the coming weeks.
Cabinteely did manage to get their first league game played before the chaos began but were left disappointed after they succumbed to an opening day defeat to Wexford Youths at home.
Friday evening will see Cabinteely look to get their first points on the board when they welcome Cobh Ramblers to Stradbrook Park (kick-off 7.45pm).
Pat Devlin’s side finished last season on 38 points resulting in their best season yet in the league and were only two points shy of fourth place when the season came to a close.
If they are to equal or improve on these results it is likely that Kieran Marty Waters will have a big part to play and he will hope to get his season off the mark tonight.
The First Division Player of the Year finished last season with a total of 16 goals to his name and will ensure the Cobh defenders are in for a busy evening.
COBH RAMBLERS
Cobh came away from their first game of the season at City Calling stadium with a high scoring 2-2 draw against league contenders Longford Town.
Cian Leonard and Andrew Wall got the goals on the night for Cobh which could prove to be a very important point as the season unfolds.
Manager Stephen Henderson was happy to come away with a well deserved point in the end and praised the character of his players in earning a point from the game.
“It’s a sign of our character that we can come to one of the favourites home patches, not play well, go two goals behind and still come away with a point.
“We’ve a lot to work on for next week but we will be ready”
