SLIGO ROVERS
Sligo Rovers will end their season with a home match against bottom club Limerick FC this Friday (kick-off 7.45pm) at the Showgrounds.
The Bit O’Red all but secured their status in the Premier Division for next season with a comfortable 0-2 win over St.Patrick’s Athletic last weekend at Richmond Park thanks to a brace from Dinny Corcoran in the second half.
Only an unlikely sequence of results combined with a defeat for Sligo will see them flirt with relegation again. Sligo will be aiming to finish a disappointing season on a high with a home win and consign Limerick to playing First Division football next year.
Micky Adams is treating this game with the utmost importance and stated to www.sligorovers.com, “We have left the players in no doubt that tomorrow is an important game. We want to make sure we finish the season in the right manner. We don’t owe any team any favours, it is just important that we go out and put in a professional performance.”
LIMERICK
Limerick will make the trip to the North West on Friday night with slim hopes of finishing in the much coveted 11th place which would earn them a playoff relegation/promotion spot.
Anything less than a win for the Super Blues will see them plying their trade in the 2nd tier of the Airtricity League next season. The disappointing 0-2 defeat to Shamrock Rovers at the Market’s Field last time out was a massive blow to their small chances of survival and manager Martin Russell is fully aware of the significance of getting all three points if the Munster club are to have any chance of playing in the top division next season.
