COBH RAMBLERS
Cobh Ramblers prepare to welcome Wexford Youths to St Colman’s Park later on today in an early bottom of the table clash with both sides still searching for their first points of the campaign.
Cobh were taken to extra time by Avondale during the week in a game they ultimately lost, knocking them out of the Munster Senior Cup, so one does have to wonder whether Martin Cambridge’s side will possibly be feeling the effects of that gruelling 120 minutes of action.
Seven goals conceded in two games does not make for easy reading from a Ramblers fans point of view, but a 3-2 EA Sports Cup victory over Premier Division side Limerick has given reason to be quietly optimistic that this side is capable of pulling off its fair share of upsets this year.
WEXFORD YOUTHS
Shane Keegan will bring his Youths side south on Saturday evening in the hope of finally getting some points on the board. His side were touted as potential title challengers in pre-season after a strong year last year but have so far failed to live up to the hype.
The Ferrycarrig based side got off to a strong start in February as well with victories over Bohs and Bray suggesting that Wexford fans would be in for a treat come the start of the season, however a 1-0 opening day defeat to league newcomers Cabinteely would suggest that there is still plenty of work to be done in the south east.
With team news so far unavailable, it is just Ryan Delaney who has been confirmed as set to miss out on the game. The defender was sent off in Wexford’s 3-0 away defeat to Dundalk during the week and therefore finds himself carrying that red card over into this round of First Division matches
