League Report: Cobh Ramblers 0 - 2 Waterford United

Cory Galvin’s brace of goals in the final five minutes of the final Munster Derby of the 2015 SSE Airtricity League First Division ensured Waterford United moved off the foot of the table over taking Cabinteely on Saturday night in St. Colman’s Park in front of over 350 supporters.
It’s been a season of change for both clubs this year with Stephen Henderson and Roddy Collins replacing Martin Cambridge and Tommy Griffin mid season. Cobh Ramblers ran a special promotion last night for any kid wearing a superhero costume they got to be the match mascots.
As any regular who goes to St. Colman’s Park will tell you, the real superheroes in the club were the ones that couldn’t be seen on the field as they have transformed the club off the field in recent setting up a trust group to ensure that the famous club will not have to leave League of Ireland football in the future despite what might have been rumoured in recent weeks.
The opening minutes of the game were helter skelter with the ball going from end to end but the shooting off both teams left a lot to be desired as neither keeper had to make a save in the opening 20 minutes despite both teams having plenty of shots.
Cobh though they made the breakthrough on 22 minutes when Stephen Christopher scored following a Stephen Kenny through ball but the goal was ruled out for an offside. This was the closest either side came to breaking the deadlock during the opening 45 minutes.
Graham McCarthy saw red for a second yellow on 54 minutes giving Waterford a man advantage for the final 35 minutes. The Galvin brothers both of whom are supposedly being scouted by Cork City at present were livewires in the centre of the field involved in everything good Roddy Collins side did throughout the 90 minutes.
The extra man was bound to count at some stage and it did on 87 minutes with Galvin scoring from the penalty spot on 87 minutes after Eoghan Daly had fouled Aaron O’Connor. He then repeated the trick on 92 minutes scoring from 14 yards after benefiting from a Brendan Frahill error.
